Walk along Southern Ontario's longest suspension bridge, get your adrenaline rushing on the provinces longest half mile twin zip line, walk amongst the tree tops and meander through caves! Oh and how could I forget the panoramic views of Georgian Bay at the highest point along the Niagara Escarpment. The experience at Scenic Caves Eco Adventure Tours will not disappoint.
I have been to Scenic Caves, but it was a few years ago. It's amazing how much the facility has expanded and how much it now offers. I remember when it had just the caves and trails. Now, it has combined a wide range of activities creating an adventure course.
It's not just the adventure aspect, but also the history involved. Guides point out the towns around Nottawasaga Bay, the "Hen & Chicken Harbour", Collingwood Grain Terminal & Shipyards, and explain how the Suspension Bridge was actually constructed...you will be amazed! Spoiler, the crews could not touch the trees or escarpment below. You'll have to check out the tours for the whole story!
When you first go to the tours, the staff there will help you gear up in your harness. Then, you'll go through a quick tutorial of what exactly you're wearing & how it works. The group will follow the guide toward the Suspension Bridge to start. Our guide, Gord Salt, explained the history of the area. This really adds to the experience, you're not just exploring the adventure aspect but also getting to know the location you are in. From why settlers came here and how their role shaped the community you see today.
After the bridge you'll hop on a wagon pulled by a tractor & go to the Canopy Tree Walk. Before climbing to the trees the guides will again check your gear, but also give you a quick on the ground lesson.
Up in the trees walking through the bush on a 10x2 plank of wood! Thank goodness for the harness. Next you take a zip down. Amanda & I wanted to take you along with us, navigate this 360 video below to get a feel for the surroundings! (Fun fact, I'm scared of heights, but LOVE the adrenaline)
The zip line was a blast. The first one gets you prepared for the larger ones. There are two others (3 zip lines in total). The 1000 ft. escarpment zip line is just after this one, you'll walk along the Bruce Trail to get there. Making stops for neat history lessons & the caves. The other zip line is the Thunderbird Twin - amazing.
